To provide assistance to the Press Tool & Die Manager in a way that supports the Magna Charter, Corporate Constitution, and customers, investors, and employees. He/she will support the Team Leaders and Press Teams by providing guidance and tools they need in order to be safe and productive. The Supervisor for the Press Tooling Team is responsible for the team memberâ€™s safety and well-being, overall development and supervision utilizing the companyâ€™s policies and procedures and the Magna Employee Charter as a guideline. As well as meeting targets and objectives related to quality, customer cost, productivity, ergonomic issues and equipment efficiency. The Class â€œAâ€ Tool & Die Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of Class â€œAâ€ tooling improvements and troubleshooting draw and surface issues along with advising and knowledge sharing with Class â€œAâ€ Toolmakers, Press Line Supervisors and Press Line Team Leaders, and developing draw die recipe standards.
1) Follow and enforce all plant safety rules and policies. 2) Understand and promote Magnaâ€™s philosophies (Magna Operational Principles, Corporate Constitution and Employeeâ€™s Charter). 3) Follow and comply with all operational/procedures/policies as stated in the employee Environmental Health and Safety programs and conduct team Safety Talks. 4) Ensure daily pre-shift inspections are completed, conduct unplanned inspection audits on a weekly basis and planned inspection audits once a month 5) Routinely make visual inspections of emergency evacuations routes correcting any safety concerns immediately 6) Within 24 hours of an accident/incident complete accident investigations identifying root cause and corrective action 7) Ensure weekly safety talks in pre-shift meetings are being conducted with team members signing the safety training roster. 8) Must be able to operate and maintain all machinery and equipment in his/her assigned area of responsibility. 9) Utilize interactive management principles when implementing corrective discipline procedures in dealing with Team Members, encourage professional development to enhance team performance, and cross train to maximize flexibility and coverage to accommodate vacations and absences 10) Provide timely coaching, counseling, and feedback to the team through one-on-one sessions, performance evaluations, and regular team meetings to ensure fulfillment of policies, practices, and procedures 11) Schedule, supervise, coordinate and direct the activities of team members and equipment to ensure that quality and productivity standards are met. 12) Maintains proper schedules and manning through eTime; verifies employee schedules on a daily basis. 13) Provides instruction, guidance and leadership to employees by assisting in solving day to day problems, utilizing the Magna Employee Charter while implementing the policies and procedures of the company. 14) Utilize interactive management principles when implementing corrective discipline procedures in dealing with the team, encourage professional development to enhance team performance, and cross train to maximize flexibility and coverage to accommodate vacations and absences 15) Provide timely coaching, counseling, and feedback to the team through one-on-one sessions, performance evaluations, and regular team meetings to ensure fulfillment of policies, practices, and procedures 16) Ensure compliance with press department, company and customer quality standards and procedures. 17) Plans and directs the utilization, maintenance and use of all machinery, equipment and manpower to achieve the most effective results. 18) Be responsible and accountable for meeting KAMTEK and departmental objectives. 19) Responsible to address and solve all customer related problems and concerns, both internal and external. 20) Maintain safety standards of equipment and work area and perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with the safety policies of KAMTEK, Inc. 21) Establish and maintain effective communication with other departments as well as conduct all business activities in a professional manner 22) Participate/initiate in continuous improvements and take advantage of cost reduction opportunities. 23) Promote, participate and implement Lean activities as they are introduced such as 5S, Kanban, PDCAâ€™s and Standardized work. 24) Services, maintains, and tests new or changed dies, capable of implementing and maintaining a preventative maintenance program on Class â€œAâ€ tooling. Performs scheduled preventative maintenance on all tooling and follows up on PM and tracking sheets. 25) Lead and direct apprentices and toolmakers on day-to-day work to be performed on tools and Class â€œAâ€ tooling skills development. 26) Perform other duties as required.
Knowledge and Education
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED required; 2-years degree from accredited technical college preferred, or equivalent experience. TECHNICAL TRAINING: Must have sufficient training, education and skills to qualify as Class â€œAâ€ Die Specialist OTHER: Computer skills; Basic in Microsoft Word and Excel; eTime.
Minimum of 4 years Experience in an automotive manufacturing environment, previous leadership role; experience in heavy metal stamping and tooling operations.

Some of the physical demands for this position include the ability to lift 40 pounds, standing, walking and sitting for extended periods of time, and occasional bending and stooping. May require Travel to outside tool shops for die buy-off duties
