Job Summary

Responsible for implementing and administering water and wastewater compliance programs per Federal, State, Local and internal compliance programs.

Essential Functions
• Coordinates all compliance initiatives with Operations Management and HSE Management.
• Tracks, monitors and coordinates all internal HSE Maintenance requirements to ensure compliance.
• Tracks, monitors and coordinates all sampling and reporting requirements for water and wastewater utility service.
• Implements new maintenance initiatives/programs with Operations Management
• Coordinates permit application, renewal, and/or transfers as appropriate.
• Monitors and supports monthly DMR completion and submission.
• Monitors all wastewater and water sampling results for non- compliance and other issues.
• Tracks implementation of capital projects to ensure compliance is met.
• Coordinates maintenance and compliance costs with the Finance team for budgeting and forecasting purposes.
• Performs follow-up on all non-compliance advisories and facility inspection reports to address the specific issue and any underlying issues.
• Negotiates and tracks consent orders/compliance schedules to assure timely completion and closure.
• Provides reports to senior management to demonstrate compliance assurance.
• Maintains files on Notice of Violations, inspection reports, etc. for all facilities and Company response.
• Directs the compiling of Consumer Confidence Report and any customer notifications regarding water quality.
• Stays abreast of upcoming regulations and works with Operations Support team to evaluate their impact on UI operations and capital planning.
• Provides guidance to Operations Management to meet compliance requirements.

Computer Skills

Required: MS Office products; ability to learn internal software programs, Preferred: JD Edwards, CC&B, SCADA, GIS, MS Visio

Education

Required: HS Diploma or G.E.D.
Preferred: Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field

Certfications / Licenses

Required: Valid driver’s license
Preferred: Certified Safety Professional, OSHA 30-hour course, Operator certification(s) in water and/or wastewater

Experience

Required: 2 – 4 years of progressive experience in the water and/or wastewater utility business or related field.

Physical Demands

This position is exposed to a normal office environment as well as working outdoors in a plant environment. Exposed to loud noise, wastewater, chemicals and high voltage where electrical shock is a potential hazard. Occasionally encounters extreme cold or hot conditions and potential contact with hazardous chemicals.
Ability to perform physical duties such as occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. unassisted, walking, and sitting for extended periods of time: occasionally climbing, pulling, kneeling, twisting, turning, stooping, reaching, and bending.
Must wear/use all protective equipment were required including hearing protection, safety glasses, chemical suites and personal protective equipment when handling hazardous materials; must be OSHA compliant.

Equipment Used

Smartphone, desktop/laptop computer, fax/scan machine, and other general office equipment. Operates a company-issued motor vehicle.

Travel Required

Frequent travel may be required.
